When Kumara still alive attempted to stand up, the priority of the Police was to concentrate on directing traffic.

Today’s murders in Sri Lanka have a resemblance to the status in Chicago. A murder was committed at Dickman Junction in Galle while thousands of people were on the road and while they were watching. A gang of thugs had cut a man’s arms and limbs into pieces in public. A van has followed a man who has been riding his motorbike and the van has intentionally hit the bike and the motor bike rider has fallen on the ground.
The gang has injured him using sharp instruments. The injured person whose legs and arms had been cut off had tried to get up but nobody has helped him or at least checked on him to see if he is dead or alive. Later, an ambulance has been called and he had died on his way to the hospital. It is been reported that Kumara Seneviratne had succumbed to this fatal death is said to be a person well connected to politics. He has been a businessman who has been residing at Dangedara.
This incident had taken place on the 25th at around 1.30 p.m in Galle. He has ridden his motor bike towards Dickman Junction. When a van that followed him and knocked him, he had fallen off the motor bike and the gang who had come in the van has cut off his limbs with the machetes and the swords they have brought.
Even though the others have been watching the scene, nobody has volunteered to help the injured fallen motor cyclist. Two Policemen have been on duty on traffic but they too have not gone for the rescue of the injured person. It is said that the dead person is a resident of Dangedara, Samagi Watta and that Samagi Watta is said to be in conflict with Kanampitiya Bangali Watta over a period of time. The residents state that the Police have made it a habit to overlook these attacks which were happening at regular intervals.
An ambulance has been sent from Karapitiya Teaching hospital when someone had reported it, yet the injured person has not been able to survive.
It was reported that a brother of the dead party, Dushyantha Seneviratne, a Member of the Opposition at the Galle Urban Council too had been shot to death. It is suspected that the reason behind these murders were the conflict between the two factions.
It was reported that the traffic Police was very ignorant while the murder took place but they have inquired about the murder from the people who had been around after the ambulance had taken the injured person to the hospital.

Cyber bullying and web harassment are been reported very often, and had led to serious consequences. There are thousands of cases where naked pictures has been published which affects the privacy and those innocent people find it very difficult to live in the society with respect. Yet, no punishments have been given and we hear a gradual increase in this type of them on a daily basis.
15 year old Amanda Todd who had been living in British Colombia had committed suicide on the 10th of this month when she has been unable to tolerate the distress caused by the Face Book web site any further. The video which she has published on ‘Y Tube’ requesting not to commit the wrong that had been done to her to anybody else made a huge impact on the society and the whole world has started to talk about this case.
Cyber bullying has started due to a mistake she had done when she had been 11 years old. She has started to chat with an unknown guy through the internet. He who ad first been a friend of the Face Book had later spoken to her on Skype as well. To a request made by him, Amanda had shown her breast on the web cam and the guy has recorded it which had been later used to bully her every day.
This guy, who had taken a video of her beautiful body, had threatened her saying that he will use it all over the web. He who had been having distorted instincts, had forced her to show her naked body. When Amanda had not agreed to him, he had spread naked photographs of her, all over the place where she has been living. The photographs have been passed around among her friends and school which had made her depressed.
She who had been ashamed of this incident has removed her name from the Face Book and the other internet social networks. Since she had been cornered from the school, she had finally changed both her residence and the school. But as due to depression, she had got addicted to drugs and alcohol.
During this time, the guy who has had the photos of her opened a new Face Book account on her name and he added his lecherous friends and displayed chats and her contact numbers and address. Thus, many men called in search of her and some even visited her home.
Due to continuous bullying and harassment, she decided to change schools. After some time, she met another guy who became very close to her. She didn’t have a clue as to what he was up to. They fell in love and taking the best out of the opportunity, he used her and dumped her saying “I knew who you were; I have seen you on the internet. That’s why I did this to you….” Amanda got into a major depression as she was cheated once again and this time she could not tolerate it anymore.
Since she was bullied again in the new school, she and her family decided to change their residence once again. Amanda had attempted suicide thrice by taking poison. Even though the family was able to save her life on the first two attempts, they failed on her third attempt. She passed away on the 10th of this month leaving a note saying that she needed to get rid of depression.
Before, leaving forever, she left a very important message on the internet which was the cause of her death. That was the story of her mistake. She said “I can never get the photo back.” After Amanda’s death, the guy who had been bullying her had been found by the police and he had been 32 year old person who had been residing in Vencor.
Amanda’s mother, Carol says that there should be an institute to help the people like Amanda who had been harassed on the cyber space and she has started a Trust Fund on that regard.
Before, Amanda’s death, she has told the whole world about the dangerous effects of revealing one’s personal stuff and details on the internet.

Life After Fake Death

This incident is not a ghost story. But an absolutely true story reported from Lagos estate in Palathota area in Kalutara. The deceased father’s body was kept in a coffin for mourners to pay their last respects. Then the body was buried in the usual manner. Could you believe that the dead person had returned to his house after two weeks? This is the story:
The person who was responsible to create this uproar had lived in Palathota area in Kalutara was doing masonry work as his profession. During a day last month he had kept a bag of tools at his daughters place and had vanished. When he had not returned for a few days his children had made attempts to find him. Their efforts to find their father had proved futile. They had later made a compliant at the Police Station, Kalutara South. It had been reported that a dead of an unidentified person who was found dead in Katukurunda area had been kept in the hospital mortuary for a few days.
The children of the person who was found missing had been taken to the mortuary to indentify and claim the body. This person had lived in this area before and had shifted to Palathota area after the tsunami. As he was used to loiter in this area frequently his sons had believed that this was the body of their father although it was in fairly decomposed state. They had claimed the body and after handing over to the undertakers had kept the body in a coffin in their house for people to pay last respects and the religious rituals.
In the meantime for people to know about his death they had printed notices pertaining to his death and had posted in and around the streets and surroundings. His burial was taken place in the usual manner.However after two weeks he had suddenly emerged and had come home saying “why is this death notices have been pasted all over the area”.
The inmates of the house were shocked, had cried and screamed. When inquired as to why he had disappeared he had confessed that he had gone to see a friend far away and was entrusted with some masonry work and stayed on until the work was over. This convinced the children of person who was assumed had died. They had said they had identified an incorrect dead body at the mortuary.
After the incident a ‘Thovilaya’ had been conducted in the house to avoid any harmful effects that may be caused to inmates having kept a dead body of an unknown person in the house and to avoid ‘ghost’ attacks it is reported.

Miss International 2nd Runner-Up Madusha Mayadunne

After a lapse of a considerable period of time, a Sri Lankan was able to win an award at an International beauty pageant. This was achieved by Madhusha Mayadunne at the Miss International contest held yesterday in Japan’s Okinawa city, where the Miss International contest 2012 was held at a glittering ceremony. Madusha Myadunne who represented Sri Lanka was elected as the 2nd runner up by the Judges which brought laurels and glory to our country. The winner was a Japanese National while the first runner up was a girl who hailed from Finland.
It is pertinent to mention that 77 contestants from different countries participated in this contest. The Sri Lanka Madusha Mayadunne was selected among the final 15 contestants. She was able to successfully capture the 2nd runners-up position beating the other 12 contestants from other overseas countries.
She is an old girl of Visakha Vidyalaya Colombo 4, who had done higher studies in the United College in Atlanta, USA. After studying a strenuous course in modelling, she is now a qualified professional modeller.
She has posed for many cover pages for magazines published in America and Britain. She could speak many languages including Sinhala, English, Hindi and Spanish languages very fluently.
Madusha Mayadunne was selected to represent in this Miss International contest as she was the runner up in the Miss Universe contest held in Sri Lanka. The first place was won by Sabreena Herft who will represent Sri Lanka in the Miss World contest.
